The Lodge & COVID-19 - Updated as of 05/21/20

UPDATE: Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks plan to reopen for day time usage on June 4th, 2020. While most trails will be open, the visitor centers and campgrounds will remain closed until phase 2 opening.

In a tiny town on the edge of one of America’s natural treasures, we have a tendency to live with “social distancing” by default. It takes effort for you to meet your neighbors, join community events, and get to know the constituents of your town. As a small business in this town, we spend much of our time with the 14 members of our team, the river, and each of our staff can tell you about a squirrel, flower, or bird we also consider part of the gang.

The responsibility we feel to care for our staff, our community, and the best guests in the world has weighed upon us heavily during these unprecedented moments in time. We feel an immense pressure to not let anyone down financially, health-wise, or energetically. Thus with extremely heavy hearts we have made the decision to declare a partial closure of our hotel from now until June 4th. This means that we will remain open but will be running with minimal staff, minimal in-person interactions, and with limited room availability.

While we contemplated a full closure of the hotel, we wish to remain available to serve those who need housing for whatever circumstances they find themselves in, and are set up to prevent any unintended outcomes. (We currently closed our check-in lobby, have no shared hallways with open air access to all rooms. Rooms will be aired and all commonly touched surfaces will get extra attention.)

We spend this time dreaming up the future where we are particularly appreciative to have our staff returned to their places and enthusiastic guests sharing our gratitude that the river still flows and the trees still stand strong. (Note: We can all still hug trees!)  We indeed will be especially grateful for your support as we all recover financially in the coming months.

We commit to keep you updated as things change and in the interim, please stay safe, healthy, and join us in dreaming up an ideal future for all of us.

With deep gratitude,
Christian, Shannon & Staff at the Buckeye Tree Lodge & Cabins
